The Town Crier's We Care appeal took a great leap forward this week as the generous proprietors of a restaurant organise the very first fundraising event of the campaign.
Cash has been flowing through the doors of our offices too – more than £1,200 has been raised.

The kind folk at Aunties Thai Restaurant, on Cambridge Road, St Neots, are holding a raffle to raise money for the appeal.

The Town Crier is aiming to collect £10,000 for the Young Carers charity which offers support and respite to children who care for ill family members.

Owners of the restaurant Superhat Sorridee and Arisa Khkhunsonthi are giving away two prizes when the raffle is drawn on New Year's Eve, each involving a large soft toy, a bottle of wine and a free meal for two.

Organiser Dennis Markland, who lives above the restaurant and spent many years as a carer for his mother and father-in-law, said: "I think this is a great cause. I have first-hand knowledge of the intense pressure a carer is under, people just don't realise."

Raffle tickets are £1 each and available from the restaurant – you don't need to be buying a meal.
