Male voice choir to sing for We Care appeal
Choral music will be floating through the rafters of a Huntingdon church to raise money for more than 350 children throughout the district who give up their childhoods to care for ill family members.
As the final push for the Town Crier's We Care appeal, which is raising funds for Huntingdonshire's Young Carers charity, Huntingdon Male Voice Choir have offered to hold a charity concert.
All the money raised from the delightful evening by this nationally renowned choir will go towards much needed respite care for the children, aged between eight and 19, who care for a parent or family member with long term sickness, disability or abuse alcohol or drugs.
Spokesman for Huntingdon Male Voice Choir Tony Slingsby said: "Huntingdon Young Carers group provides help and advice and a friendly ear in times of trouble.
"Many of the young people have little or no respite from the day to day duties of care, so the group provide the only social outings that the young person may enjoy."
Project leader for Huntingdon Young Carers Lucy Francklin said: "A trip to visit a local country park or outdoor activity centre does wonders for the morale of the young people and any change of scene is a positive experience for them."
Town Crier editor Matt Cornish added: "We're delighted the Huntingdon Male Voice Crier are supporting this worthwhile charity. We hope as many people as possible come along, not only for a great night of inspiring music, but also to help show these young people that we care about them."
>> The charity concert will take place at Huntingdon Methodist Church on Saturday, April 26, starting at 7.30pm. Tickets are £8 and available from the Town Crier, Priory House, Priory Lane, St Neots PE19 2BH or call Hazel Slade on 01480 402133 or Sam Bratby on 01487 830689.
