The garden show must go on as club moves to new venue

The St Neots Garden Show was in doubt this year as organisers have been forced to seek an alternative venue for the event after the closure of the Bargroves centre in Eynesbury.
The 39th annual show to be held by the St Neots and District Garden Club will go ahead at a brand new venue.
Chairman of the club Peter Walker said: "Several venues in St Neots were considered, but either not available, or not suitable for the event."
The show, which is the highlight of the year for the club, has been moved to Little Paxton village hall, which was fortunately both available and suitable for the event.
Although a little further out of town, and not entirely appropriate for a club which is based in St Neots, the hall has the advantage of free parking for visitors.
Mr Walker said: "The committee will make every effort to bring the show back into town which is, after all, its proper location".
Little Paxton village hall will open its doors to the public at 2pm on Saturday, August 9 for an exhibition of the morning's entries. A tombola, raffle and various cookery and craft stalls will also be on offer.
For those who would like to show their prized blooms and home cooking, there are more than 70 classes of competitions which will be judged inndependently in the morning.
Prizes will be handed out in the afternoon when members of the public are invited to view all the entries and winners.
The children's competition has also been reinstated and pupils from local schools will be judged on their collages and pictures.
The closing date for entries is the wednesday before the event, August 6.
The show should be a success, judging from last year, and the club hopes that the new venue will not deter any potential green-fingered additions to the club's membership, or anyone who simply wants a great day out.
