A charity play scheme which offers vulnerable children in St Neots somewhere to go in the school holidays is one of five projects to benefit from a £300,000 Big Lottery Fund.
The Proud To Be Loud Holiday Playscheme, based at Winhill School for eight weeks each year, has been award £60,000 of the grant intended to improve play activities in Huntingdonshire.
The funding means the volunteer-run project, which provides free care and activities to 60 children aged 10 to 14-years-old, can continue for another three years.
Chairman of Proud to be Loud Penny Litchfield, who piloted the scheme three years ago after she discovered a gap in care for children of these ages, said: "It's a combination of child care and youth work.
"It's for children when they get to that age that they are too old for child care, but too vulnerable to stay at home alone. It provides a safe place for young people to go and have fun, and they learn a lot also.
"This money is fantastic because it means the project can continue for another three years. Beyond that it means we have a chance to sit back and breathe a sigh of relief and plan now what we are going to do in the future."
The other schemes to benefit from the grant, handed to Huntingdonshire District Council to distribute, include Stukeley Meadows skate park project which was awarded £60,000 and the Stilton skate park project which was awarded £50,000.
Another £52,000 will go towards the Fusion Holiday Play Scheme in Huntingdon, which already provides a variety of activities for children and young people in the school holidays.
The remaining £48,000 will go to a Play Outreach Project, which will provide mobile supervised play opportunities for young people across the district.
