Police believe jewellery is being targeted by burglars in St Ives.

In one day three separate break-ins in St Ives saw jewellery, as well as computer equipment, stolen.

On Wednesday, June 4, between 7.45am and 1pm, a house in Ramsey Road, was entered and a large amount of jewellery taken.

The same day a laptop, credit cards, cheque book, digital camera and foreign currency was taken from a house in Constable Road, between 8.30am and 2pm.

The third break-in was in Houghton Road, where a property was entered between 7.30am and 4pm. CDs, DVDs, jewellery, a games console and digital camera were taken.

Burglaries of this nature have been taking place across the St Ives area for a number of months.

On March 22 cash, jewellery and a games console was taken from a property in Nursery Gardens, and in Home Farm Road, Houghton, a laptop and jewellery were taken just a few weeks later on April 5.

Detective Sergeant Matt Swash said: "Please be mindful of where you leave your valuable jewellery. The offenders seem to distinguish between what is valuable and what is just for show, and as a consequence the "for show" jewellery is not touched.

"I would also appeal to staff and owners of second hand outlets. We need to know if there are any people making significant visits to stores, particularly with jewellery."

Anyone with information about these burglaries should contact DS Swash at the priority crime team on 0845 456 456 4 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
