Burglars have struck 11 times since the beginning of March in and around St Ives and homeowners are being warned to take precautions.
Police are asking people to take sensible precautions following the thefts from property, which include:

Overnight on Friday (March 14) a house in Deighton Close was entered and a purse and wallet were stolen. The incident took place between 11.20pm and 7.45am the following day.

On Saturday (March 15) a house in Waveney Road in St Ives was entered between 5am and 11.30am, where thieves took a laptop and a mobile phone.

Between 12.30am and 6am on Monday (March 17) a house in Spinny Way, Needingworth was burgled. Burglars took a purse, wallet, cash, a watch, credit cards and other document.

Detective Sergeant Matt Swash, who heads up the priority crime team, said: "Each of these burglaries is being investigated by our team, but there are a few simple steps that you can take to better secure your home.

"In the majority of these burglaries the offender entered through a door which had been left unlocked overnight.

"Please make sure that you remember to lock all your external doors before going to bed. For an opportunist burglar, to find an unlocked door is as good as an invitation.

"Generally items easy to hand, such as purses, phones and jewellery have been taken.

"If you think you know anything about these burglaries, or if you have seen anything suspicious, such as someone trying door handles late at night, please contact me."

Anyone with any information is asked to contact DS Swash at the Priority Crime Team on 0845 456 456 4 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.

I was woken up by fire works last night about 12:30pm. This morning i was then told by my neighbour that someone very tall which appeared to be male was trying to break into our houses at the same time the fireworks were going off. Fortunately my neighbours husband managed to scare him off when he put the light on. He ran to his front door ad saw a car race up the street which he assumed was the get away car.
