A coroner has heard that Simon Woodward was killed when his shotgun went off by mistake.
The 42-year-old oil trader died in his bedroom on January 3 this year from a wound to his left groin.

The inquest at Huntingdon Law Courts on Thursday (May 22) heard that the blast happened as an angry Mr Woodward held the loaded gun by the muzzle and swung it a number of times against the floor.

He had become upset after an argument involving his wife, Karen Woodward, who he had recently got back together with, and mobile phone conversations and messages with unknown others.

Coroner David Morris recorded a verdict of accidental death.
