Climbing, mountain biking and basketball are new to the fun-packed summer programme
Published Date:
28 July 2008
SUMMER action has kicked off in Huntingdonshire with a full programme to suit all youngsters.
Huntingdon District Council's leisure development team has put together a huge range of activities for children aged six to 16 which aim to keep them active and entertained during the long summer holidays and fight the summer boredom.
The activities on offer will give youngsters a chance to discover new sports such as rowing and archery as well as allowing them to develop existing interests like tennis.
Senior sports development officer Martin Grey said: "We're creating pathways for young people. They may not know about their local sports facilities, we aim to change that.
"The scheme has been going for a number of years and each year it gets bigger. New this year is climbing, mountainbiking and basketball. It also highlights the importance of keeping children active in their school holidays.
For those who can't make up their minds, free activity roadshows will be available giving them the chance to try a range of different sports in a safe and supervised environment. A range of disability sports are also on offer.
Whatever the choice, your children are guaranteed to go home exhausted after the day's activities!
