Cllr Bob Eaton will serve a second term as mayor of St Neots.
Members of St Neots Town Council unanimously voted for Cllr
Eaton last week.

In proposing the nomination, Cllr Derek Giles said he was 'delighted' to propose Cllr Eaton who had been so instrumental in raising thousands of pounds for charities during his year in office.

Cllr Eaton said his main reason for carrying on was to see the completion of several projects that are in the pipeline, especially 'widening the remit' for the St Neots Youth Town Council.

He said: "Unfortunately you can't do a lot in a single year as there is just not enough time.

"Saying that, it has been a good and very eventful year and I am so proud to have been chosen once again to represent the town.

"There are still lots to do and I am looking forward to the challenge."

The mayor said he would like to extend his thanks to all those who have supported him in many ways over the last 12 months, including his ex-deputy, Cllr Fiona Birks, town council staff, Priory Centre staff and his colleagues on the council.

Cllr Eaton said this year his chosen charities will be: Marie Curie Care Cancer Research, West Anglia Young Carers (St Neots), Riverside Theatre Choir, Royal Air Force Association (St Neots) and St Neots Youth Boxing Club.

Cllr Alan Cummings will be the news deputy mayor.

>> The first meeting of the newly-elected St Ives Town Council is due to be held on Wednesday (May 14) at the Free Church.

The first task of the council was to elect a town mayor, deputy mayor and to elect members onto various committees.

>> Huntingdon Town Council will hold their mayor-making ceremony on Thursday (May 15).
