The victim was walking along the footpath between Great Northern Street and Spring Common at about 8.30am on Thursday, May 1, when he was approached by the man who asked for money.

Although he did not directly threaten the boy, he produced a penknife and handled it while walking alongside him.

The victim handed over the money and then reported the incident to his father who contacted the police.

The man is described as white, about 20, 5'10", slim to medium build, and was wearing a white but grubby hooded waterproof jacket.

He had his hood up throughout the incident but is believed to have fair hair. He was last seen walking in the direction of St Peter's Road.

PC Nick Eagle, from Yaxley Police Station, said: "The victim was not threatened but he did feel compelled to hand over money and the manner of the theft is concerning.

"I would like to speak to anyone who thinks they know who this man is or has information about the theft."
