Homes had to be evacuated when a car crashed into a house, damaging its gas pipes.
Action was taken in London Road, Godmanchester, yesterday (September 28) when a car smashed into the side of the property.

The incident happened at around 10.30am and the female driver of what was believed to have been a white Renault Clio was uninjured.

Firefighters evacuated around seven homes in case there was an explosion and sealed off the gas pipes using a putty like substance until the gas board arrived.

A structural engineer was sent to assess the damage to the property.

Homes were evacuated for around three hours and had to wait for their gas supply to be reconnected.
