The great and the good enjoyed a warm welcome at the formal handing over of St Neots Football Club's new ground.
Former Aston Villa manager John Gregory, whose father used to manage St Neots, was guest of honour alongside MP Jonathan Djanogly and town mayor Bob Eaton.

Representatives of the Huntingdonshire FA, the Eagle Bitter United Counties League and developers Gallaghers were also on the guest list.

Mr Djanogly unveiled a commemorative plaque and guests were invited to inspect the new ground in all its glory.

Post lunch speeches were made by former chairman Bob Bridges, life president John Walker and director John Delaney.

Tribute was also paid to landlord Peter Rowley for his generous support of the club.

The club is now aiming to progress up the football pyramid.

>> St Neots first pre-season friendly will be against Blue Square Premier newboys Kettering on July 12.
