Thieves smashed the windows of two businesses in St Neots before stealing charity boxes.

In the first incident, someone broke into Eaton Plaice Fish Shop, in St Neots Road, Eaton Ford, between 10.40pm on Friday, September 26 and 9.20am the following day.

A large stone was used to smash a window and three charity boxes and two sweet machines were stolen. It is not known how much money the boxes contained.

Then, at 3.55am on Monday, September 29 a window at the Woolpack Inn, in Church Street, was smashed and a Great Ormond Street charity box containing £15 was taken.

Two charity boxes were also stolen from this premises on August 3 this year.

Detective Sergeant Matt Swash from the priority crime team said: "I would like to speak to anyone who knows anything about these thefts.

"These crimes have been committed by callous thieves looking for loose change. I would urge anyone with information to get in touch."

Anyone with information is asked to contact DS Swash at Ramsey Police Station on 0845 456 456 4 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
