Bright colours, 'found' objects and interesting stories are all features of local artist Jerry Rowlands current exhibition at St Neots Museum, which runs until April 12.
Jerry, who was born in Yorkshire in 1940, spent most of his adult life as an English teacher, most recently as deputy principal at Ernulf Community College (now St Neots Community College) from the early 1970s to early 1990s – and this is one reason why he describes his work as 'outsider art'.

He says of his exhibition: "I hope that the word 'drift' will be taken in a metaphorical, as well as in a literal sense: things – memory, perception, insight, mood, vision, and so on – shifting, moving, never being quite stable. Drift (wood in the main) is the unifying theme, in so far as there is one, in these 'pictures'. Other 'found' things are also obvious."

Jerry's 'found' objects also include a decorative 'rosette' made up of old cigarette packets and old card milk bottle tops: go along and see for yourself how he uses these items in his work.

On April 2, children and families will also be able to have a go at using 'recycled' objects to create artworks, in a family drop-in workshop at the museum. There's no need to book, just wear old clothes and drop in from 11am to 3pm. Cost £2 per child (all children must be accompanied by an adult).
