In just over a week, bikers from across the district will be donning their leathers and jumping on their bikes to ride across the United Kingdom, all in the name of charity.
The Big-Hearted Bikers' latest fundraising ride – Five Countries in Five Days – kicks off on Monday (May 12) in a bid to raise £25,000 for Cancer Research UK.

And organiser Paul Burbridge, 55, will be leading the pack in style from the White Hart Pub in Godmanchester astride a brand new, custom-sprayed 675 Daytona bike.

The metal beast was donated for the ride from Triumph dealers of Peterborough, Webbs, and sprayed with both the Big-Hearted Bikers and the Cancer Research UK logos by Liquid Image from Wellingborough.
After successfully raising money over the past few years for Milton Children's Hospice and the Royal National Institute of Blind People, Paul decided this time to help a charity close to his heart.

The father-of-three from Rushers Walk, Godmanchester, was diagnosed with cancer of the bioduct, liver and lungs more than a year ago and has been receiving treatment at the Woodlands Centre at Hinchingbrooke Hospital.

Paul, who has specified that all money raised must go to Cambridgeshire Research Institute at Addenbrookes Hospital, said: "This is a vital charity which offers help to so many people, and although I feel passionate about raising money, this year it has become personal.
"You can either sit on the sidelines and watch life go past you or you can become part of it. If I can possibly help it, cancer's not going to stop me doing anything.

"The support we have received so far has been amazing, and I would like to thank everyone who has contributed. But it's not over yet, let's keep that money rolling in and make a difference."

This year the Big-Hearted Bikers will be leaving Godmanchester on Monday, May 12, and making their way around England, Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales, returning to a party at the White Hart on Friday, May 16.
